Rules for attending language courses: first-cycle studies
First-cycle studies, study programme 2020
Rules for attending and completing language courses as well as obtaining certification are regulated by Resolution No. 6/2019 of 24 April 2019 of the Senate at Lodz University of Technology, Study Regulations of Lodz University of Technology, Chapter 4
Internal regulations regarding students who started attending language courses in summer semester 2020/21 and later
1. Students are obliged to ENROLL IN THE LANGUAGE COURSE (Foreign Language Module 1) in person, according to the rules and before the deadline defined in an announcement published on the Lodz University of Technology Language Centre website (the announcement should be published at least two weeks before enrolment starts). After electronic enrolment has finished, students can enroll with the given faculty coordinator at the time of their office hours, at the latest before classes in the second week of the given semester start. Where justified by circumstances, students can enroll before the fourth week of classes in the given semester starts.
2. Students have the right to change their language group level within the period of two weeks after classes start in the first semester of the language course (having received the approval of the current teacher and the faculty coordinator). After that time, any change is only possible after consulting the coordinator of the team responsible for cooperation with faculties and possibly the approval of the Head of the Language Centre.
3. Students may continue their language education and participate in classes of the course Foreign Language Module 2-4E even if they have not completed the previous module of the given language course. It can only be done in the semester which falls immediately after the semester in which the student was doing the Foreign Language course module that they did not complete. At the same time, such a student is obliged to catch up and complete the previous module before the deadline and in a form agreed with the teacher who conducted classes of the course module that was not completed or with the faculty coordinator if the teacher is unavailable in the given semester, but not later than until the end of the exam session in the current semester. If the student does not fulfill this obligation, they have to retake the language course module that they did not complete in the next semester, participating in language classes according to the general rules in force.
4. Students who are retaking language classes (the Foreign Language course) have to contact the faculty coordinator in order to obtain a referral to a specific language group, then join the classes and show the referral to the teacher who teaches the course.
5. Should any other matters connected with attending language courses arise, students need to contact their faculty coordinator during their office hours.

Internal regulations solely regarding students who started attending language courses in 2019 or earlier
1. Students are obliged to ENROLL IN THE LANGUAGE COURSE (blocks 1-3) in person, according to the rules and before the deadline defined in an announcement published on the Lodz University of Technology Language Centre website (the announcement should be published at least two weeks before enrolment starts). After electronic enrolment has finished, students can enroll with the given faculty coordinator at the time of their office hours, at the latest before classes in the second week of the given semester start. Where justified by circumstances, students can enroll before the fourth week of classes in the given semester starts. The same procedure applies to students who are retaking their language course – they need to contact the coordinator to obtain a referral to a language group, then join the classes and show the referral to the teacher who teaches the course.
2. Students have the right to change their language group level within the period of two weeks after classes start in the first semester of the language course (having received the approval of the current teacher and the faculty coordinator). After that time, an approval to change the language group level from a higher to a lower one must be given by the Head of the Language Centre.
3. Students who have obtained an average grade of 4.5 (four and a half) or higher from all the language course blocks can be exempted from taking the final exam (both oral and written). Each final block grade cannot be lower than 4.0 (four). In such a case, the final exam grade results from the average grade obtained. This rule does not pertain to students who have completed the language course blocks in the form of resits or are taking the exam before the exam session officially starts.
4. Students may be exempted from taking the final exam based on the certificates they hold (see the tables listing recognized language certificates).
5. Should any other matters connected with attending language courses arise, students need to contact their faculty coordinator during their office hours
