PASSION, COMMITMENT AND CARE FOR QUALITY

Our staff is a team of employees who passionately implement the educational offer of the Language Centre of the Lodz University of Technology. Among us are English, German, Iberian, Italian, Romance and Polish language specialists. Together, we care about the good image of the Centre among both students and external clients. We meet the expectations of employers by preparing graduates to efficiently implement the tasks that their work environment will bring. We cooperate with the local community and use innovative solutions and technologies to make our educational and commercial offerings more attractive. The CJPŁ team consists not only of teaching staff, but also of administrative and maintenance staff.

HOW DO WE WORK?

The pedagogical approach of the Language Centre at Lodz University of Technology (CJPŁ) is based on an eclectic model, allowing for the use of a wide range of techniques and tools from contemporary foreign language teaching methodologies. Nevertheless, the main principle of this model is teaching communication, in which students are the primary focus of all educational activities, and the goal is to develop language competencies and 21st-century skills. The work of the teaching team is primarily focused on preparing students to fulfil various roles in a multicultural society, especially in an academic and professional context, and actively contributing to increasing their mobility and employability.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT?

Teachers make wise and informed choices when planning the teaching process for each group and are guided by commonly accepted opinions and principles, namely that:

  •  Language learning is a complex process.
  •  Students represent different types of intelligence and learning styles, so classes should provide a variety of forms and paces of work.
  • Students should be actively involved in the learning process (student-centred learning);
  •  The tasks set for learners should be adapted to their needs and level of language competence.
  • The teacher should inspire and motivate learners in the learning process.

The entire team strives to ensure that the Language Centre's educational offer:

  • includes language training at various levels of proficiency and specialist courses;
  •  meets the needs and interests of students and fulfils the requirements set by employers;
  • supports autonomous learning through a wide range of interactive online exercises (CALL);
  • enables work with authentic spoken and written texts, both in a broad popular science context and in narrow subject areas;
  •  met the highest quality standards (the accreditation process initiated by the international association EAQUALS – The European Association for Quality Language Services)
