We are building a team - about the Interdisciplinary PBL Project /IPP/

As every year, in the winter semester, TUL Language Centre teachers together with faculty colleagues are co-hosting a course for students at the IFE Faculty, mysteriously titled the Interdisciplinary PBL Project, or IPP for short. This year's theme is "Campus that Matters."

This semester, students, in interdisciplinary teams, under the supervision of Laurent Babout, Grażyna Budzińska, Magdalena Gałaj, Anna Karczemska, Anna Laska-Leśniewicz, Izabella Łacińska-Wójcik, Joanna Miłosz-Bartczak, Marzena Stawicka, Krzysztof Tomalczyk, Magdalena Wróbel-Lachowska, Iwona Wróblewska, and Dariusz Witkowski, will be asking questions, researching, reporting, expanding their knowledge, and seeking practical solutions to improve, streamline, or introduce innovative amenities on any Lodz University of Technology campus.

During the first session, students got to know each other in their teams, building them both literally and figuratively. These simple tasks were intended to help the teams identify natural leaders and develop principles of teamwork. See for yourself below. Building a tower of plastic cups, against the clock, in a specific configuration, without using their hands but using rubber bands and string, proved to be an engaging task, followed by reflection on what truly builds a team, what we learn from collaborating with others, and the commitment this places on team members.

We are looking forward to seeing the results of students' work this semester and, as every year, we hope that they will submit their projects to IDEA BOX.

IDEA BOX is a project that allows our employees and students to submit their ideas aimed at improving the quality of work, study, and recreation at the university.

We warmly invite all employees, students, and doctoral students of Lodz University of Technology to submit their ideas. Ideas should be diverse and aimed at streamlining and improving working and learning conditions. You, dear employees, students, and doctoral students, know our university best and know what can be changed to improve it.

The amount of funding allocated to the implementation of selected ideas varies annually. In 2025, it amounted to PLN 125,000. These funds are allocated to the implementation of university-wide ideas. The project is implemented from the Lodz University of Technology's performance budget. The winning ideas are selected through online voting.

The conditions for an idea to be accepted for voting are:

• the possibility of its implementation by the end of the calendar year in which it was submitted, its university-wide nature,
• positive verification of compliance with applicable regulations,
• technical feasibility of its implementation,
• verification from the perspective of actual costs,
• maximum cost of implementing the idea: PLN 40,000 (infrastructure ideas only, excluding the purchase of consumables).
