Rules of enrolment and delivery of language courses at TUL Language Centre

Basic Information

The rules for the implementation and credit requirements of the language course (lektorat) are regulated by Resolution No. 20/2022 of the Senate of Lodz University of Technology (Politechnika Łódzka) of April 27, 2022, Chapter 4 of the Study Regulations at Lodz University of Technology.

In the TUL Language Centre (Centrum Językowe PŁ), the basic language course for students of Polish-language degree programs is English, implemented in a system of four modules across three levels of advancement:

  •     B2, B2+, and C1 for 2025 programs

  •     B2new, B2-B2+, and C1 BA for 2020 programs

Each course for these levels of advancement concludes with an examination that confirms the competencies achieved at a given level.

The Language Centre's offer also includes a language course in another modern foreign language (other than English), which is implemented in the inter-faculty slot.

The selection of the language and the level of advancement of the language course track takes place in the first semester of studies, in accordance with the offer published by the TUL Language Centre and the curriculum.

Internal Regulations

The student is obliged to personally enrol for THE LANGUAGE COURSE (Foreign Language Module 1 or module I [2025]) in accordance with the rules and within the deadline specified in the announcement on the CJ PŁ (TUL Language Centre) website (the content of the announcement should be published at least 2 weeks before the enrollment begins). After electronic enrollment concludes, students may enrol in the language course with their faculty supervisor during their office hours, no later than the start of classes in the second week of the semester.

The student has the right to change the group level within a period of two weeks from the start of classes in the first semester of the language course (with the consent of the course instructor and the faculty supervisor). After this period, a change is possible only after consultation with the Coordinator of the Team for Cooperation with Faculties and, if accepted, with the approval of the Acting Director of CJPŁ.

A student may continue the language course and participate in classes for the Foreign Language Module 2-4E, even if they failed the previous module. They can do this only in the semester immediately following the semester in which they completed the failed Foreign Language subject. At the same time, such a student commits to making up for the backlog and passing the outstanding module within the timeframe and form agreed upon with the instructor who taught the failed module, or the faculty supervisor if the said instructor is unavailable in the current semester, but no later than the end of the examination session of the current semester. If the student fails to fulfil this commitment, they must repeat the failed module of the language course in the next semester, attending classes under general rules.

A student repeating a language course (Foreign Language subject) must report to the faculty supervisor to receive a referral to a specific language course group, and then attend the classes and present the referral to the course instructor.

For all other matters related to the realisation of language education, students should report to the faculty supervisor during consultation hours.
